The work
The South Yard cliff line works involved the stabilisation of the cliff line at Devonport Naval Base to eliminate ongoing damage being caused to sensitive refuelling equipment and services. The measure and value project was awarded to Earth Stability through competitive tender following a pre-qualification process.
The project required 610 drilled and grouted galvanised and epoxy coated anchors and 2,300m² of Maccaferri double twist PVC coated rock fall mesh.
With limited access from the top of the cliff and highly sensitive fuel and communications services along its base, the project required carefully considered planning and highly skilled project management to eliminate the risk of serious incident, delay or disruption to the operation of the base.
Work was completed on time and to budget — without any incident, delay or disruption to the operation of the Naval Base.
